LOS ANGELES President Trump on Wednesday announced he intends to name the administration's envoy for hostage negotiations, Robert O'Brien, as his next national security adviser.
"I have worked long & hard with Robert. He will do a great job!" Trump tweeted.
I am pleased to announce that I will name Robert C. OBrien, currently serving as the very successful Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs at the State Department, as our new National Security Advisor. I have worked long & hard with Robert. He will do a great job!

O'Brien will replace John Bolton, whom Trump fired last week and later criticized for failing to align with the administration's agenda on North Korea and Venezuela.

Is the Hostage Affairs office really busy? I wonder what O’Brien really has been doing?
Connected at the hip to Romney.
Don’t tell me he hired another Deep Stater?
Source?
Man, I hope not, but he did work for both Bush and Romney, and he was the partner in a law firm (lobbyist) so I have doubts.
Anyone read his book?
I heard he worked for Clinton.
Where is he getting these deep state people?
“Where is he getting these deep state people?”
He’s surrounded. I think the Kushners are progressive moles. Jared’s brother Joshua is one of the CEOs that sent the anti-gun letter to Congress. Great family.
From Wiki:
“O’Brien was nominated[3] by President George W. Bush on November 10, 2005 and confirmed by the US Senate as the US Alternate Representative to the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which met in New York 2005-2006. In addition to his other duties as a US delegate, he addressed the General Assembly on the question of Palestine and represented the United States in the General Assembly’s Sixth Committee, which considered the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism.
“O’Brien served as Co-Chairman of the United States Department of State’s Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan, launched in December 2007 by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. O’Brien continues to serve on the Public Private Partnership Executive Committee. On July 31, 2008, President George W. Bush announced his intention to appoint O’Brien to serve in his administration as a member of the Cultural Property Advisory Committee and represent the interests of the general public, for the remainder of a three-year term which expired on April 25, 2011.[4][5]”
I did find this interesting though:
“He was a Rotary Scholar at the University of the Free State in South Africa and he speaks fluent Afrikaans.”
This guy has the STENCH of Ivanka all over him.
Thanks for the information.
Afrikaans? I must be a dunce because I’ve never heard of that language
It’s a variant of Dutch spoken by the descendants of the Dutch settlers in South Africa - the Afrikaans.
You’re welcome. Afrikaans is one of the official languages of South Africa. Comes from Dutch, brought to South Africa with the settlers.
Essentially, yes.
Trump is a pragmatist, not an ideologue.
He sounds like too much of a diplomat for the job.
We’ll see
