Facebook details rules for its new ‘Supreme Court’ that will handle controversial posts (Orwellian)

Facebook on Tuesday released its plans for the new board previously likened to a “Supreme Court” that can overturn the company’s own content moderation decisions.

The new “Oversight Board” will govern appeals from Facebook users and questions from the company itself. The board will eventually consist of 40 members with three-year terms drawn from a diverse array of backgrounds, according to Facebook. Panels of five members will deliberate on cases it chooses to take. A minimum of 11 members will be required for the board to function. Facebook said in a press release it plans to have the board in place and making decisions in early 2020.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg first wrote about his conception of a new body to govern the company in November of 2018 as Facebook faced mounting scrutiny over its privacy and content moderation practices. Conservative lawmakers have accused Facebook and other tech platforms of displaying ideological bias in its content removal practices. In December, The New York Times reported that Facebook’s content moderators relied on inaccurate and outdated guidelines to approve and reject flagged posts.

FACEBOOK is installing its own unelected "Ministry of Truth" to control what people say. I think they selected George Orwell's 1984 as their ideal.

They thought Hillary would win and their Ministry of Truth would be supported at the highest levels, and for this reason, they are probably running about 3 years behind their schedule. :(

I accidentally dropped this from the top of the post.

KEY POINTS
  • Facebook released new governing documents for an independent oversight board that can overturn decisions by the company itself.
  • CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously likened such a board to a type of “Supreme Court” for the platform.
  • Facebook proposed the board as a way to check its decision-making as lawmakers and regulators keep a close watch on the company.

Instead, I suggest a high-powered microscope.

One that is capable of intense inspection of bovine excrement.

Oh, and to be qualified for FB, any detection of said b.e., will be evidence of ‘truth’.

With forty members and three year terms what would actually be created is a third legislative body. Guess we could refer to our form of government as tricameral. And, we could kiss any pretense of our constitution being our guiding light, laws to live by.....

All members of the DNC, because of their elevated status, are automatically on the review board.

I used to think that the DNC used the media giants to control the message.

Now I think the CIA Media Giants use the DNC to control half of the voters and insult the other half.

personal examples of how professional FB is

I was suspended for 24 hours for “posting too fast.” Sometimes I go down my timeline and share what I like. Since then i have received 3 warnings for posting too fast.

Each time I asked a simple question. What is the rule for how fast or how many I can post in what time frame. They have never answered that question. So when I get pulled over or ticketed they can’t tell me the speed limit.

I had a post deleted regarding Omar and saw 10 others just like it in a 2 hour period.

I posted on May 1 and it was deleted by FB with a warning. I asked for a review and they apologized and reposted it. On May 2, I posted a similar post and it was left up. Went into the hospital and came out July 24. I tried to share something and was informed I was suspended for 309 days for the May 2 post. I asked for review but nada. Sent an e-mail through (report problem) no response. Suspended for 30 days for something they allowed two months before.

I hate what they re doing to conservative speech, but my family is there. The point I am making is in addition to stifling speech they are basically incompetent.

Note: when you ask for a review of a FB decision there is no place to explain or write a message,.

Twice I have suggested to FB they have a social page and apolitical page. Anything goes on the political page The social page, not politics.

When the say “diverse” they mean a panel that agrees on silencing conservatives.

After a selection process that will include gathering candidates from a diverse set of backgrounds and vetting them for potential conflicts of interest, Facebook said it will extend offers to a “limited number” of candidates to become co-chairs, formally appointed by the trustees. Once the co-chairs are in place, they will help select the rest of the board members. Later, the board will lead the membership selection process itself, Facebook said.

With a rigged process like that we will need just one (1) democrat-controlled administration and we will have a mandatory chinese style social credit score system in place that will be giving orders to LEO on whom to arrest for violations this "board" deemed to have been committed.

What is the rule for how fast or how many I can post in what time frame.

They will never give you one. The whole point is the community guidelines are never specific and concrete so that they can engage in arbitrary censorship. If they had a set of rules made clear for everyone then all of the crimethink could be tailored to be within the guidelines. Rather than have to deal with people talking around banned words or topics, they simply keep everything vague so they can cull everything they don't like.
