Edgy. One can only imagine the furor if a conservative had said that. It is as predictable as the dawn that "It isn't racism when we do it" isn't a very strong defense in these days of pervasive SJW triggering. Whose fault is that? "Cancel culture" didn't originate on the right, and the people who wish to stifle free speech with hate speech laws aren't conservatives.
Still, First Amendment considerations don't stretch to private hiring decisions. SNL can hire whoever they want. But this "war" that has been declared will soon run afoul of the fundamental "no enemies on the Left" premise that rules Hollywood. They'll bend over backwards to blame Trump but everyone knows it's a lie.
