I’m a pipe fitter by trade and try to explain to these young guys there is a big difference between water pressure and gases.
You wouldn’t believe some of the things I have seen!
Had one guy using air pressure to test a water system rated for 225 psi.
He was up to 100 psi before I stopped him and made him bleed it off.
I asked him how high was he going to take it and he said 225 psi.
I asked him what the ratio is water to air? He looked at me like I was a bug.
I told him the ratio is 6 to 1 and he only needed 38 psi.
I asked him if he ever saw a pneumatic system come apart at 1350 psi.
I told him, it’s like a bomb going off.
This system was plastic pipe instead of the usual steel pipe.
A slug (in terms of mass) of 80 proof whiskey would be about 4.3 gallons. Feeling up to it?
My favorite is “mhos” (pronounced “mows”) - abbreviation for a unit of electrical conductivity (Seimens).
It is the inverse of resistivity - which is, of course, “ohms”.
I think the wine was just to kill time while the slugs came out. I just stab ‘em. Salt’s not good for plants, either.
