I had an uncle who was paralyzed in a car accident and back then the advice was to let him die since he ‘wouldn’t make it past 20’ and would be in a wheelchair and a buden on everyone.’ Thank God no one listened. He lived into his late sixties and before he passed he became the co-caretaker with his mother both of his neice [who had a wild neglectful mother] and then later of his own mother who after the neice was raised and married came down with cancer and dementia. She is a very good mom thanks to them and a wonderful lady.
When they did the autopsy on him they discovered he was missing a kidney- and that the removal of the kidney had never been noted in the records of his only previous surgery, the surgery done when his back was originally broken. He was never told his kidney had been removed.
