__________

First base side, third base side, outfield area, or behind the plate?

I used to go to Forbes Field back in the 50's and 60's. About 12 rows back behind the Pirate dugout in those days. Got a very good look at Clemente and those guys.

Baseball was different then.

All those Saturday games must be great.

third base side....between third base and left field pole...

i love the seats behind the plate but they get a bit pricey...if i go to an odd game i’ll take a seat behind the plate because they give STH’s a price break..

regardless- i love my seats and Citifield..

must’ve been great seeing Clemente- whom i believe got his 1000th hit against the Mets...

I missed this article, thanks. Great story here, especially Pete Alonzo. He had special 9/11 cleats made up for each teammate without notifying MLB, for fear they’d nix the idea. So nice to see a budding star with his priorities in order!

________

In the few times I have been able to watch him he reminds me of the raw power that young Mickey Mantle had.

Just asking, how does he run? Is he able to get down to first base quickly? Just wondering.

For a while The Mick was said to be the fastest in the league getting down the line to first base until he was basically playing crippled.

He’s got ok speed for a big guy, and he always hustles to first which isn’t something you see from guys today. Mickey was a freak, who if he came up today, would be the first baseball billionaire, providing he laid off the sauce :)
