“Did you see Phoenix in “The Master” ? “

No. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him in other movies, but I can’t remember any off the top of my head. He certainly has a solid rep as a good actor, though.

I’m not a big fan of comic book movies generally, but I think they’re going way overboard today making them so “gritty” and “real.” Pennyworth has very graphic depictions of sex and violence. VERY graphic. It’s part of the Batman story so why all the T&A and decapitation?

I just started watching it now. He’s certainly odd so far.

A very good movie of Phoenix’s is Signs. He plays a good guy......I’m not enamored of most of his work. (Flame away)

I think I saw Signs and Walk the Line. I just went through is filmography on ImDb. He has been around a long time. Appeared in a number of TV shows in the ‘80’s. I probably saw him without realizing it.

I liked his later brother River in Stand By Me.

Heath Ledger is the Joker.

Cesar Romero is amazed, rather than amused by your effrontery ...

You guys would have some really tough choices in the Doctor Who franchise.

It’s possible to take issue with some of the details of the controversy, but it’s a good thing that people are finally asking what the effects of entertainment on society really are.

I saw the Master with my son who is a director of TV and film. It is true thhat Phoenix did a masterful job in his role; but in the end I did not like the movie because the people in it were not likable nor did the have any redeeming qualities in my opinion. There was ultimately nothing to like about the characters or the story in that movie. For those who may not be familiar with the film it was a loosely desquised story of the founder of the church of scientology.

> ...Stephanie Zacharek wrote that Phoenix’s character “could easily be adopted as the patron saint of incels,” referring to the “involuntary celibates” group of frustrated males whose beliefs have come up in several mass killings.

Well Stephanie has come up with the answer to mass killings.
Come on girls. Take one for the team.

No it’s a fact of literary elements

Just on a quick google search to support my case, as I know there is much written and published, I find an article put out only a few days ago

Here’s a link, not for you two, but for any open minded readers who might find it interesting to become informed.

Some excerpts follow

https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/michael-w-chapman/catholic-school-removes-harry-potter-books-says-curses-spells-are-real

One exorcist told me,” said Fr. Ripperger, “that 60% of the names in Harry Potter are actual names of demons that exorcists have booted out of people. There is an exorcist I know, he’s a friend of mine — he and I are always comparing notes on Judas, because Judas is a hard guy to get out of people — he has had to exorcise three children just for reading the books.”

“So, I tell people, avoid it,” said Fr. Ripperger. “All exorcists that are worth their weight ... are very clear, stay away from it.”

Commodus in the 2000 historical epic film Gladiator, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

you know what is empowering, not giving hollywood my money and not filling my head with their garbage.

I don’t even have to debate whatever they are talking about cause i just don’t even care.

Liberating and good for peace of mind. I don’t miss facebook at all either

Heath Ledger is the Joker.

Heath Ledger’s death didn’t cause any pause for reflection? The mental toll the role took on him?

Is it possible that the movie could be temporarily shelved by Warner Brothers because of the current political climate?

Doubtful. It's going to make a ton of money. Early reviews are stellar.
