(snip) As the firebrand cultural critic Camille Paglia puts it in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal's Tunku Varadarajan, Americans take our unprecedented freedom of choice and wealth of consumer goods for granted. They are desperately in need of a richer, deeper context for the very era they are denouncing.
"Everything is so easy now," Ms. Paglia continues. "The stores are so plentifully supplied. You just go in and buy fruits and vegetables from all over the world." Undergrads, who've studied neither economics nor history, "have a sense that this is the way life has always been. Because they've never been exposed to history, they have no idea that these are recent attainments that come from a very specific economic system."
Capitalism, she continues, has "produced this cornucopia around us. But the young seem to believe in having the government run everything, and that the private companies that are doing things for profit around them, and supplying them with goods, will somehow exist forever."(snip)
Paglia arguesconvincingly, to my mindthat we've forgotten even the relatively recent past.
"Our parents were the World War II generation," Ms. Paglia says, "so they had a sense of reality about life." Children now "are raised in a far more affluent period. Even people without much money have cellphones, televisions, access to cars. They're raised in an air-conditioned environment. I can still remember when there was no air-conditioning." She shudders as she sips her cold beer, adding that she suffered horribly in the heat
.Ms. Paglia asks me to note that it was "because of capitalism" that her forebears "escaped the crushing poverty of rural Italy," emigrating to Endicott, N.Y., to "work in the Endicott-Johnson shoe factories, whose vast buildings, tanning pools and smokestacks dominated my childhood."

The high school curriculum has been hijacked by the liberals. What was once a useful collection of necessary subjects has morphed into a program of political indoctrination.
In other words brainwashing.
Our debt bubble has yet to explode.
***********
An economic volcano just waiting to erupt.
and they have a parasitic anti-effort mentality: they want to gain the unearned, the undeserved, and something for nothing without effort.
When I told my 9th grader (in the California public schools) how refreshing it is that young people see right through all the propaganda, she said: "They really do," and then gave me some examples.
These young American’s think that Socialism is: no more student loans because school is FREE, that they can go to the doctor whenever they need to and it will be world class care and FREE, that they’ll be able to keep most of the money they make because everything is FREE, they’ll be able to live in the coolest inner city neighborhood that will be cheap and crime free because everything is FREE, that they’ll be able to attend festivals every weekend in the spring and fall and enjoy the latest craft beer at the newest micro brewery in the neighborhood because everything else is FREE, that all their energy needs will be fulfilled by the sun and wind because they are FREE.
Then they get the bill and have to move back in with their parents.
Our elections are fraught with cheating and fraud. Bus loads of illegal voters voting. Precinct heads who find boxes of ballots in their car trunks.
Punks on TV crying theyre being suppressed because someone stops their bus load of illegals from going from poll to poll to vote multiple times
This problem means conservative politicians need much more than a simple majority to get elected. I believe trump one the popular vote by millions if the cheating was taken into account.
Won. Not one.
Camille Paglia is a Marxocrat-voting, abortion-supporting, degenerate-culture-apologizing, radical sodomite. Why do people on the (supposed) right find this tramp so attractive such that they wait with bated breath for her every word, like she’s some sort of oracle of wisdom?
This sort of stuff is why the right is always at a disadvantage with the left and has lost the culture war.
She nails it.
We quit teaching the dangers of Socialism and Communism after the Berlin Wall came down. We have to rising generations now who literally have no clue.
Because there is no point in attacking people who are willing to speak out bravely in favor of capitalism, regardless of what they may believe on other issues. Praising Paglias forthrightness on economic issues is not equivalent to endorsing her entire world view on everything.
“Because there is no point in attacking people who are willing to speak out bravely in favor of capitalism, regardless of what they may believe on other issues.”
So if I believe in human sacrifice, bestiality, and total hedonistic depravity, I’ll get a complete pass if I just utter a few words about how great capitalism is. That’s just great. You’ve made my point.
Hold on a sec! Paglia was a huge supporter of Bernie Sanders in the last primary, then Hillary Clinton, so she should take her own advice! She lived through the killing fields, the deliberate starvations of Ukraine under Stalin, the great leap/bloodbath forward under Mao, and the collapse of the Soviet Union, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. At least the ignorant snowflakes have an excuse.
