Last few years I’ve been watching pro rugby from Britain. Similar to American football but with much less pausing in the action. And it is played wearing what amount to soccer uniforms. Some players wear a cloth padded headgear, but that is to protect their ears. Size of the players varies a lot more than American football depending on position.
There are still injuries of course, but players don’t seem to hit quite as hard when they are not wearing armor.
Yes. I used to be a registered Republican.
Hah hah! Brilliant response!
post of the day!
I'd probably sit out of if I knew they were tanking and I was on their roster. I guess I'd pretend my back was killing me or something so I could get on IR because if the team is tanking all the regular rule books are out the window and it's every man for himself.
College football is a different story. Yes. If they disrespect the flag and the coaches and audience allows it. No
National Felon League—don’t watch it any more...
Post of the day!
Tua might want to stay one more year at Bama.
Technically, they were 14-0 in 1972 but then won three in the postseason to finish 17-0, the only full undefeated season in NFL history (FU, Patriots!).
Stopped rooting for the Dolphins after they got rid of Shula.
Yeah, I get it.
I haven’t watched a football game in years. I just can’t enjoy it, knowing what is happening to the players, day in and day out. For every hit you see on the field, there are a dozen hits in practice.
You get to know the players. You get to care about them. And then you get to see them getting ground up in the machine. Where is the pleasure in that?
I remember the story lines when Peyton Manning came back from his neck injury. All of the speculation about whether his surgical repairs would be sufficient to prevent permanent spinal damage. I could not bring myself to watch the games, because either the stories were BS, in which case it was pointless emotional manipulation, or they were true, in which case I don’t want to see a man crippled.
John Elway showed us that back in 1983.
(BTW, I was in Cal Memorial Stadium for The Play, and got to see John Elway lose his last game for Stanford)
“He was also the guy who gave Penn State that ridiculous amount of money to start their hockey program ($102 million for the stadium and the programs endowment).”
That’s the guy?!
By doing that, he destroyed the best collegiate hockey conference ever - the WCHA.
Penal State is a Big 10 program and teams like Minnesota and Wisconsin had to leave and form a Big 10 hockey conference. The rest of the WCHA (North Dakota, UMD, etc) split up and ended up primarily in deferent conferences.
College hockey has never been the same.
“John Elway showed us that back in 1983.”
Hehehehee
Thumbs up.
Baltimore fans don’t forget.
Yeah! Good one!
Good one!
When it came time to move my house, I could not use Mayflower. Too many bad memories of the Colts.
Next week, the Cowboys WILL take some more starch out of the Deadskins.
nice!
