The irony is that there would be more slots for American kids if there weren’t so many (mainly Chinese) foreigners attending American colleges. Her daughter may be unfit to attend, but foreign enrollment is an issue.
Colleges typically try to enroll as many foreign students as possible for two reasons: (1) they pay higher out-of-state tuition at many schools, and (2) they tend to be wealthy and pay 100% of the cost with no financial aid.
