Director Todd Phillips Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gothams fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night
but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

There’s a VERY old movie about a clown with his face frozen kind of the way the joker’s looks but it wasn’t meant to be a horror.
It was supposed to elicit sympathy.
It did not.
It elicited horror.
Dont recall the name at all
[A clown-for-hire by day]
Eric the Clown. This is just a gig, man.
[he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night]
That’s gold, Jerry. Gold!
It might be The Man Who Laughs.
That’s the one.
I recognized the face on google from what I remember seeing.
Not sure this is what the demented populace needs right now.
Who’s gonna play Harley?
I think I read once that The Man Who Laughs (originally a Victor Hugo novel) was an inspiration for the Joker.
The Man Who Laughs

This is not just a plot device because it is the central character. These movies derived from comics now consistently seek to rehabilitate the villains, and redefine morals.
Leftists credit Society with both the ability to destroy and to redeem a person. So they blame Society, but also demand that Society fix the damage.
Society has taken the place of a real Savior in the Marxist Utopia to which the Whollyweird left subscribes. Objective evil is no longer acknowledged.
I do not want to see the evil Joker revisioned into a sympathetic character. Jack Nicholson’s portrayal was more true to the character.
My favorite John Hughes, and favorite John Candy.
Hate Marks politics but he’s a real talent-and easy on the eyes,IMO.
