Yes, he has … We the (deplorable) People raised a ruckus about it.
No action thus far, and he’s tossing around excuses for not wanting to sign any such bill.
Which, to my mind, justifies raising a ruckus any time he starts to go in the wrong direction. He does seem to listen and learn. That puts him head and shoulders above most politicians.

I also agree with your thoughts on raising a ruckus. While I believe (and hope) that he will be reelected, I think that he is being very careful not to upset the base, or to motivate more people to simple stay at home. Giving the thumbs down on gun control isn’t going to piss off the Dems any more than they are, but allowing more of it without some very consequential positive results (ending part or all of the NFA, nationwide carry, etc.) most definitely WILL piss off a lot of his voters (definitely including you and I).
