Donald Trump ordered US companies to leave China on Friday after launching another blistering attack on Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell, asking “who is our bigger enemy, Jay Powell or [China’s] Chairman Xi?”

Moments after Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, warned the US central bank was facing a “new challenge” as it deals with the Trump administration’s seesaw trade policies and ongoing dispute with China, Trump went on a Twitter rampage calling for a US boycott.

I think he is telling them, its time to pack up your sellout cronies in chicom land and get out because the party is over Wall St. Whether they leave or not is up to them.

if Trump cured cancer the commie media would side with cancer and say that destroying cancer is racist

Like Pelosi sided with the MS-13 gang members when Trump called them animals.

To not follow the President’s order will have devastating consequences upon those corporations.

Like?

But you still should not refer to the Chairman of the Fed as an enemy.

Why? If he’s issuing edicts that don’t help our economy than he IS an enemy.

Also, I am ordering all carriers, including Fed Ex, Amazon, UPS and the Post Office, to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE,.... ....all deliveries of Fentanyl from China (or anywhere else!). Fentanyl kills 100,000 Americans a year. President Xi said this would stop - it didn’t. Our Economy, because of our gains in the last 2 1/2 years, is MUCH larger than that of China. We will keep it that way!

And the Trump EO to withdraw from the Postal Union takes effect on 10/17/19...so cuting off the Chicoms from low cost postal rates to the USA

Just in time for Christmas

Eat it Chicoms.

Understood. But government control of international relations and trade negotiations is to be expected

Posted on an earlier thread:

I'm thinking that President Trump knows that Xi CAN order China to do anything, so he's using that word in parallel even if he doesn't have the authority.

It's a power posturing move. Now the Democrats and the MSM can take China's side against America in the run-up to 2020 if they quibble over Trump's use of the word "order."

The ChiComs are still a demand economy at the Politburo level. This is a delayed response (in-fighting in Politburo), to something that Trump has mostly delayed or cancelled.

We are headed from a limited trade war to a full scale economic war. We will experience pain, but they may lose their hold on power as they have huge disruptions.

We need a huge VOA effort into China.

You can’t have real trade with a Communist dictatorship.

I blame Clinton and the GOP Congress for giving China, an undeserved entry into the WTO by giving them US trading privileges.

Nevertheless, here we are. A justified trade war, which will lead to disruptions that eventually lead to bigger and better trade.

The term is especially for Chinese consumption. As the Chinese foreign ministry will explain to the leadership, Trump does not quite have that authority but has considerable legal and political power with which to back up his demand, and the harshness of his words will put off foreign investment in and deals with China. Indeed, even as China hopes to see Trump defeated, due to public sentiment against China, Trump may intend to win in part by running against China.

I think Trump thought that the Jackson Hole conference was an FOMC meeting.

The wording of the tweet suggests you're right. I wonder if his staff has given up trying to brief him.

But you still should not refer to the Chairman of the Fed as an enemy.

Especially when the Fed Chairman is the person you, in your infinite wisdom, personally selected

A reasonable argument. But Trump still should not refer to the Chairman of the Fed as the “enemy” (and I do not mean to imply that you agree with this characterization).

It’s a free country. I don’t want any president, short of a real national emergency, to be ordering companies to do anything.

That’s a pretty low definition of enemy. To think that the national economy is intentionally being weakened is the height of paranoia.

No just what the Fed has done historically.

They always anticipate inflation way too early in expansion and increase rates.

They are not special and do deserve critique.
