Based on what happens in other nearby nations like Mexico we would see an explosion of murder and other crimes. In Mexico private ownership of firearms is very difficult, and semiautomatic rifles are essentially illegal for private citizens. But Mexico had more than 22,000 murders last year, with a population 40% less than ours.
