Another viral video of Bryson DeChambeaus interminable process illustrates how the social media voices of its audience, and more importantly, its players, will compel the PGA Tour to fix slow play.
It wont happen because the media partners put pressure on the Tour to fix it. No, beyond an exasperated sigh or gentle chiding over a plumb bob, they are there to present the product in as appealing a way as possible. I once overheard Lance Barrow, the legendary CBS producer for NFL and golf broadcasts, bellow out on the patio at Colonial were not journalists, were partners!"
It came the morning after another Twitter video showed Bryson walking off another shot in a process that allegedly took more than three minutes.
Thanks to social media the voices from both Tour pros and its audience its becoming an issue that will have to be addressed, whether they want to or not.

But I find this interesting. And something to talk about with the inlaws.
Me neither. I kept score by how many balls and clubs I had left at the end of the day.
I enjoy playing golf occasionally, but you couldn’t pay me to watch it on TV.
They want them to sprint to the next shot or hole ? D’oh it’s Golf ,LOL
I can’t imagine anyone not getting excited over a player spending an extraordinary length of time trying to figure out how to get a shot out of the rough. And those dramatic practice swings build the suspense. Its golf at its finest I tell you. /sarc

Did you give yourself a birdie for a bent club? LOL
I watch only the last two days of the four majors...
AFTER the cut...
They could incorporate some kind of timed cart races between tees/holes. The faster the better. You could lose by one stroke and make it up on the best time between holes.
Fun and exiting for the whole family!
Was his shot worth the wait I wonder. Perhaps not and thus the reason for their angst.
I golf once in a great while. I was very happy when I broke 100. Unfortunately, it was a 9 hole par 3 course.
Slow play is frustrating. Burns my hide when a 22 handicapper tees off from the blues.
I like it its relaxing almost as calming as a watching Bob Ross paint
Golf , you walk , you snack , you drink(no Booze) and you hit a ball
1. Data data data. Record shot-duration times for every shot and publicize them.
2. Follow the worst offenders and penalize flagrantly, ignoring their fellow competitors.
He takes a half hour lining up and agonizing over his putt... and then he misses. Poetic justice.
Don’t care too much for him, maybe it’s his pretentious hat or the way he sulks when he misses.
If they really want to make it interesting, they need to include guns in the sport. Golfers hitting the ball to the hole. Shotgunners blasting away. Make it a team sport.
I drive the beer cart at charity events. I kept score by having the lowest number of cans at the end of the day.
