"Queens district attorney candidate Tiffany Cabán conceded defeat Tuesday night — six weeks after the Democratic primary election that pitted her against the establishment-backed Queens Borough President Melinda Katz."

“We terrified the Democratic establishment,” Cabán told her supporters at a party in Astoria.

“We showed [that] you can run on a boldly decarceral platform,” she added referring to her criminal justice reforms. “You don’t have to play by the old rules.”

Strange is it not, how she lost the recount when she ran against an establishment Democrat?

So Hillary Clinton bests Bernie Sanders Redux.

Today's Tammany Hall defeats insurgents who have a different idea about how graft and corruption should be doled out.

Next time the Bolsheviks will prevail over the Kerenskys.

“We showed [that] you can run on a boldly decarceral platform,”

Seems to me like she learned a big word and used it improperly.

The Bolsheviks came close this time. I’m hoping that the reason Caban lost is BECAUSE of AOC’s endorsement. Kind of like candidates who lose when Obama endorses them.

Just looked “decarceral” up in my (old, 1963) Webster’s dictionary, and it’s not there.
I have a pretty good vocabulary, but have no clue what the word means.
Maybe, it’s just short—well, actually long—for DUMB!

The fact that the Queens Borough President had to go through a recount to defeat a political nobody is very significant. AOC’s proving to be a political wunderkind of sorts, at least in NYC.

True, I have to begrudgingly give her that. Another “nobody” almost took down the establishment candidate.

The word “carceral” can be found by a search. (I had to look it up too.) It means pertaining to prison. I am going to take a swing at this and opine that what she is saying is that a decarceral prosecutor is one who opposes sending people to prison.

My feeling on this is that she would try hard not to file charges in the first place, or reduce them if she did, and she would try to keep people from being sent to prison if they were convicted.
