I presume Newsom is talking about a hard border to keep weapons of "godd--ned mass destruction" from getting IN to his decrepit state.
I was thinking it would be a good way to keep all of the wacko liberals who have ruined the once beautiful state, from getting OUT and spreading their socialist ways to other states.

Exactly correct. In fact, I’d think that a handgun, say, a .357 or two, would LIKELY be more devastating in this situation. (Concealable until in optimum position / situation. Also harder for the LEO’s to spot.)
And if firearms were utterly banned, if the attacker really wants to kill a lot of people and considers himself / herself expendable, well, there is entirely too much history on more deadly methods already...
