I didn't want to leave the house with them out front and knowing we were gone. I unscrewed the muffler from my mower and started working on knocking down the weeds first from the far part of the driveway from them. I kept working toward them, with the open exhaust port almost always pointed directly at them. It was making a god awful amount of noise. Fortunately, I had a good pair of hearing protectors on. It was also throwing up a bunch of dust as I went over dirt portions of the driveway.
Their dog was barking and growling at me to begin with and tugging at his chain. When I just ignored him he turned his attention on them and was barking at the car. They had rolled their windows up to keep the noise down and keep the cloud of dust out. I kept getting closer. But before I got right up to them I went across the driveway and started mowing in front of the street. They packed up most of their crap and left.
They were trespassing but the police around here probably wouldn't have done anything about it. I figured my best chance to get rid of them was to convince them that it would be better to go settle in some better place. Unfortunately, our big tree makes some nice shade and tends to attract this type of vermin.
No more ‘living in a van down by the river’.
That’s a crazy story man.
I dont like the old lady that goes through our trash looking for bottles and cans, no less loiterers like what you’re talking about.
SMH
That’s bad
Nice. You get bonus points for getting some actual work done, as well.
What if you say you’re commuting VERRRRRRY slowly?
Given LA traffic you might win in court.
LA hasn’t figured out to assess property taxes for someone living in a car yet?
It’s definitely a security issue.
And there it is. Austin, TX is more liberal than LA.
But, they can still poop on the sidewalk, right?
554,000 homeless people, nationwide. For all the money we’ve thrown at the issue, we could’ve bought them homes or, if necessary, put them up in private hospitals. Billions and billions, just lining the bank accounts of various left-wing virtue-signalers.
Unfortunately, it just about drove my wife crazy as well... that little Briggs and Stratton sounds like a couple of Harleys revving it up. She turned the TV all the way up but she still couldn't hear it. Their big dog was barking and frothing at the mouth, but I couldn't tell that he was making any noise above the mower, it was like someone had turned the volume off on him. I am sure some of the neighbors were getting pissed, but most of them were gone because it was around noon before I decided that I had enough of these two idiots smoking pot and playing with their phones in my driveway.
But as you say the driveway is now looking great. I had been avoiding knocking down some overgrown dried out foliage.
Homelessness is a choice.
We have had some problems in the past. Around here, they seem to poop in the bushes or poop into plastic bags which they throw in our yard or into the bushes. The more considerate ones put their poop bags in our garbage can. It sometimes just smells awful when I open the can up.
But if they are living in their car, they are not homeless.
Unless you mean a “home” is a house. But what about those million dollar malibu trailers? Those shipping container “houses”?
If one can call a man a woman, joe scarborough a conservative and hillary clintoon not a convict, then one can call a car a home.
Many have tents. We learn others have vehicles including RV’s and vans
Those people are not homeless, they are squatters. They appropriate and then squat on public property
The liberal courts is a big part of this.
The courts have been siding with the bums ‘rights’ over city regulations to limit begging, vagrancy, and trying to limit their trashing of streets sidewalks, etc.
Meh, they can just block out their windows. If the police can’t see inside, they have no probable cause to search the vehicle, so they can’t enforce this. It may be illegal to drive with windows blocked, but it can’t be illegal to park like that, or sunshades and car covers would be contraband.
Canada’s “Trailer Park Boys” takes that to the next level. Ricky lives in his car, and has it rigged up to cook food on the engine block, and takes a shower by opening up his makeshift “sunroof” (a house window installed in the roof) after it rains and letting the water that has collected there fall down on his head. Then he uses the exhaust pipe as a blowdrier!
This law is clearly racial discrimination against my Gypsy heritage. Where’s the ACLU?
