Lewiston police Chief Brian T. OMalley said that no officers within his department had knowledge of Meserves substance use disorder nor his possession of narcotics.
OMalley said that the city is still in negotiations with the police unions to establish a drug-testing policy to identify potential substance use issues and provide resources for employees struggling with dependency or addiction.

Yay. Terrific. You’d THINK drug use by Police Union Members would be a No-No but, I guess not!

Sad. But he should have known better than to steal the drugs and then take them.
RIP.
Maybe others will learn from this.

“he was seen pocketing drug evidence that had fallen on the ground”
Really? By whom? This kind of “reporting” drives me nuts.

There is a damn good reason anesthesiologists are required to keep patients who are put under on constant surveillance. This is dangerous stuff; not for amateurs.

Opioid drug overdoses are still up while opioid prescriptions are way down. Let’s face it the government derives tremendous benefit on the drug trade. Money laudering banks pay big fines, prisons are big business, cartel busts keep the police state agencies busy. The banks, prisons, drug users, dealers and police state are not going away. The war on drugs is a money maker for government like other wars.

It appears that some departments will hire anyone. One can see it in the drug culture grooming of some individuals. Those who’ve indulged in fads to make themselves look like inmates do not properly represent authority or encourage respect.

99% likely that this is false.

I live in Maine and I’ve heard nothing reported about this on the local news. Strange.

Lewiston police Chief Brian T. OMalley said that no officers within his department had knowledge of Meserves substance use disorder nor his possession of narcotics. OMalley has said that his department conducts regular reviews of an officers use of force, sick time usage, job performance evaluations and complaints from the public, but none of the reviews indicated that Meserve had been battling a drug dependency issue or addiction issue.
Clearly just a great American Hero who had a disorder... Not an evidence thief liar or druggie loser trash, (which is what non-badged people are when we overdose.) If only he could have planted that evidence! God Bless this Hero, the TSA, and ALL who keep us safe.

When he heard the police motto was “To Protect and Serve” he thought it said “Self Serve”.
