At least 57 people were killed, including 16 who were decapitated, during a vicious gang battle that erupted in a prison in northern Brazil on Monday morning.
The unrest is reported to have begun when a local gang stormed a wing of the facility in Para state controlled by a rival group, state news reported. The majority of the victims are believed to have died from asphyxiation, after gang members set fire to part of the prison complex. State media said the violence began around 7 a.m., local time in the Regional Recovery Center in the city of Altamira and lasted for several hours. Video of the scene showed prisoners sat on the roof of the building, brandishing knifes and with their heads covered, amid smoke rising from the interior.

Note to self: Try to stay out of Latin American prisons.
Not that we don’t have some bad spots, either.
Pesadelo!
(Nightmare! in portuguese)
I love those shows Locked Up Abroad. I remember one where the inmates actually carried automatic weapons to protect themselves from rival gangs. Incredible.
>>And the gang played soccer using the decapitated heads as balls.
You have to admit that the Brazilians do prison riots proper.
Yikes. Thanks for posting.
I haven’t heard of that reality show. But, I can see where it would attract an audience.
Good thing those 16 were only decapitated and not killed like those dozens of others.
CNN.......
Prisoners killing prisoners....
Eliminating the high cost of maintaining prisoners....
Well I guess the Brazilian GDP will see an improvement with the reduced cost....so yeah...there’s that....
There’s a riot goin’ on. In cellblock number 9!!
The same type are what countries to the South of us send up here. The only way to get rid of them.
A number of prisons in Latin America are frankly, bizarre. I visited prisons in Honduras and Salvador on Mission Trips. They have laws that anyone with gang tats, MS 13 or 18th Street, goes to prison, period. They have prisons full of these people who run their own prisons. The guards dont even dare go in. The prison (IIRC) where the inmates were armed was in Chile. At first glance I was incredulous. Why would anyone even stay in a prison if they were better armed than the guards but when you realize they had everything they wanted, all the coke, hookers, booze, you name it, and the laws left them alone. Why would a loyal thug want to be anywhere else?
Yet, the msm is all upset that civilized Sweden is holding those two US teen murderers.
