If you go to the Daily Mail site you can see video of the boxer's trainer telling him that he's getting hit too much and begging him to let him stop the fight, but the boxer refused. An argument could be made that he should have stopped it anyway, or the referee should have stopped it sooner, but the fighter refused to quit.
I thought the boxer’s manager could stop a fight by the act of throwing in the towel.
Is that just Hollywood depiction?
The young boxer most likely wasn’t even aware of his own injuries by the end of the fight and wasn’t even able to make the judgment to end the fight.
There's no criminal guilt here, but the referee should have prevailed, placing his body between the fighters, IMO
