The Dallas Cowboys kick off training camp this weekend as the defending NFC East champions. Last season ended with a playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams, which marked 23 straight years the Cowboys were shut out of the NFC Championship game. Only the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions have longer title-game droughts.
But Americas Team remains the biggest must-see show in sports. Nine of the 50 highest-rated sports TV broadcasts in 2018 were regular season Cowboys games, helping goose ratings for CBS, NBC and Fox (the Patriots were the only other team with more than four games among the top 50). Cowboys fever helps owner Jerry Jones generate an estimated $340 million in sponsorship and premium seating revenue at AT&T Stadium, twice as much as any other team.

The level of ‘GAS’ I have has absolutely ZERO value but it’s there anyway. LOL!
This list is bogus.
Contains no WNBA or women’s soccer teams.
Must be fake news.
Value is the wrong word.
Who cares?
Exactly.
Can’t believe that needed the /s tag...
“Manchester United was the worlds only pro sports team worth more than $2 billion in 2012. Now there are at least 50, including almost every NFL team.”
Pretty impressive growth in a 7 year period.
Most of the really big soccer clubs in Europe are owned by the fans or billionaires who wouldn’t sell their teams for double or triple the price listed as the value; and there would be plenty of buyers.
It’s not about the money for any of them, with a few exceptions. Those clubs not owned by the fans are often owned by very wealthy oil Sheikhs who bought them for their personal egos.
You will also see “The Emirates” airlines on the shirts of a number of top clubs. That generates huge ad revenue along with the ads on the video screens bordering the pitches on all sides.
Do not be surprised if U.S. major league sports start having corporate logos on uniforms in the not too distant future. The revenue potential is just too lucrative too ignore.
I saw the Boston Celtics had a GE logo on their uniforms. I never heard any announcements of sponsorship, but the logo is obviously part of some deal with GE and the Celtics.
Dam Sam. Jerry paid $150 million for the Cowboys 30 years ago, and now they are worth $5 billion??? Holy Toledo.........
Where does it all end? Franchise values can’t keep growing at that rate indefinitely.
This list is flawed as it includes all team infrastructure, so teams that own thier own stadiums, etc. show up as worth more then teams that don’t. Both the Yankees and Red Sox own all or part of their local broadcast partner which can be as much as 50% of their value.
Not me.
Just think of how much more the Cowboys would be worth if they were to win a few more Vince Lombardi trophies.
