This is all so, so, so implausible. The Democrats claim to have mountains of evidence that President Trump is unfit for office and has committed high crimes — all of it already in the public domain and dispositive. But an impeachment vote just taken could not garner anything close to 100 votes.

Into Congress comes a highly reluctant Mueller on July 24, who has spent $40M to issue a 400-page, supposedly exhaustive report that he insists he will not embellish upon. But but but ... Somehow he discloses an overlooked fact, soundbite, insight or whatever that ends up profoundly important. Congress immediately adjourns until after Labor Day, at which point this factoid/whatever has persuaded 218 Dems to impeach.

Really?

Here are Mueller’s two options. First, he can go all in, trying to make this scenario real. Second, he can read the obvious position that AG Barr has put him in, which is to take his anti-Mueller investigation to its full logical and obvious ends. Under option #2, Mueller double-crosses the Dems and during his testimony he distances himself from as many shenanigans as he can in order to save his own skin.

I don’t actually see a third option for Mueller whereby he somehow threads the needle in some middle ground way. The Dems clearly think they have Mueller in the bag and so I would bet on option #1. But AG Barr is not to be underestimated either and Mueller is such an egotistical weasel that I will not be surprised at a double-cross.

I wouldn’t want to be Mueller. Ha!

They should bring up Mueller’s involvement in Epstein’s earlier sentence being relaxed. Mueller’s relationship to Epstein in 2008, how much he knew and when did he know it?
