I think the ‘heat index’ / feels like temp is a media construct to help persuade people that otherwise typical summer highs are unprecedented temps and confuse them into believing that global warming has raised temps 8 or more degrees above temps people vaguely remember from years ago.
I dont like to sleep in an air conditioned room -last night it cooled down to 87.
DOH!
It’s Hot and Muggy in DC typically July and August. Fake News!
Going to buy one for each of my kids who are all in their 50s.
I clearly remember a day at summer camp in 1964, around July 4th...104 degrees in Bucks County PA.
What a summer that was.
There are some climate justice warriors that will be sweating it out with no AC thinking they’re saving the planet. Dipsh!ts.
1980 in Missouri it was over 100 almost nearly every day in July. The record for Missouri was 116 in 1954. Since those days we have had climate change and it is not as hot. (sarc)
Remember, Obama, Cortez and all those folk would rather you not have air conditioning.
I think I've found the problem.
The Daily Mail is a news website. It is the largest English-language news media corporation in the world. This is a news story.
Wonder how AOC got to that photo op at the border facility a few weeks back. I bet she biked there.
heat in·dex, noun: a measure indicating the level of discomfort the average person is thought to experience as a result of the combined effects of the temperature and humidity of the air.Bull hockey-puck global warming hysteria. The heat index is not real. It's a made up number. I swear, made up to panic people. Not unlike attaching an index to the Chelyabinsk meteor event in Russia before it happened and calling it The Extinction Level Event Index. Doesn't have much to do with reality.
Well put; the elites certainly aren’t setting aside the private jets, limousines, second and third homes, etc.. I honestly believe that much of this hype is to deal with the fact that as Asia’s middle classes grow, the Western elites don’t want to explain to them why our welfarians drive cars while Asia’s working professionals have a lower standard of living.
The “Green New Deal” people need to convince me that giving more money to black people around the world is going to fix this; it is a very clearly spelled-out part of that program.
I think our ancestors chose the ground of Washington DC as the capitol for a reason. Its hot, swampy and muggy as hell in the summer. They counted on the people of government to escape that harsh summer climate thereby reducing their meddling too much in our affairs.
Then came air conditioning and civil servants.
This is fake news; yesterday the main north Jersey news site had a story about a former NY Giants player who died at 32:
“Ex-Giants Super Bowl winning OL Mitch Petrus dies of heat related illness”
He was a former offensive lineman (so he was huge), and he was working outside his family’s shop in Arkansas. Sad, but a very misleading headline.
On the TV news last night they admitted we weren’t near record heat, though we might come close at night. I couldn’t believe they were allowed to admit we weren’t nearing records...a lot of fake news is what they DON’T report.
Back in the day you could jump in or go tubing down the Delaware (or as we said in the 1980s, the DeBellaware...) but I know people who cut their foot on broken glass. Many summers were spent at Resica Falls along the Bushkill - I suspect the Scouts will Be Prepared and are keeping cool despite the temperatures.
I wanna know what is the Wind Chill this weekend.
Exactly. Not like the NYC area has never seen temps like this, never mind the heat index. Some reporters think everything’s gone down the memory hole though.
It’s a British website, and the way this is written is more like satire than news.
Heat wave? Two days? LOL at media...
