If we adhere to the first definition, then we are technically all ONE RACE — THE HUMAN RACE.
But to answer your question, it is because people want to divide us based on the second definition above because it is ADVANTAGEOUS to them financially and politically.
Most of what we're bombarded with 24/7 is delusional. CNN, MSNBC, LGBTQ. "White" vs "Black" as political categories. Surely you know that?
