I agree. Sad thing is the left will try to paint us by this idiot’s brush. As far as I understand Spanish speakers have been part of America since it was even a country - in Texas, California, ect.

I wonder if most people realize “Gringo” is not a compliment but a slur.

You are right.
Also, it means a lot how loudly they do it.

I didn’t need any translation.

Just me then. I live where there are very few Spanish folk, and always thought it was just a description, then realized at some point it was meant in derision. Guess just me behind the 8 ball here.

Exactly. Imagine going to a Chinese takeout and berating the Manager for talking to the staff in Chinese!

You would get some funny looks giving them hell in their own establishment.

For years I had a problem taking my wife to get her nails done at a shop in the mall. The staff would jabber away in Vietnamese and it just bothered me, my hangup not anything they did to cause the discomfort. I got to where I would just walk the mall or sit on benches outside the shop instead of inside. I know I know.. get over it, after 50 years you'd think something like that wouldn't bother you, but it did.

We had a long time friend we met in the DC area, and both families ended up living in N. California about 40 miles’s apart.

He grew up in the SW and had a lot of legal Mexican American friends and he spoke Mex/Eng very well. He loved good SW Tex/Mex food and taught his wife and daughters how to prepare it, quickly and with great taste. He also loved grilled hamburgers with the works.

There was an excellent Mexican restaurant about half way between where we lived. Often we would meet he and his wife there for lunch or dinner. The owner/chef would invite him into the kitchen to watch and sometimes help prepare food.

One day, he wanted a SW hamburger grilled with onions and served on slices of sourdough bred. The owner chef had him show his staff and him how to grill the hamburger/onions and sour dough bread.

They liked it so well, they added “The Old Gringo Hamburger” to the menu. It was still on the menu years after our friend their amigo died.

So Gringo can work both ways.

Micronews: Insignificant events recorded on personal devices and get viewed by thousands of people with nothing else to do.

Yes, and helped along by the (micro)news media whenever it serves to promote their leftist agenda.
