Officials say U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport thwarted a man’s attempt to import several pounds of African rat meat.

Customs spokesman Steve Bansbach said Tuesday that the man declared the 32 pounds of meat on June 26 when his flight arrived from the Ivory Coast. The meat was confiscated and destroyed.

When I saw this headline, I first thought it was some Chinese guy who brought the rat meat into the U.S. I was mildly surprised to see it was someone from Africa. That's just what we need, people bringing in rat meat from countries rife with swine fever. We don't need him or his "goodies".

I never eat at McDonalds, but they raise the tastiest rats in their dumpster area. I confess that I don’t know what those things are eating, but boy, are they tender. :)

Bringing raw African cuisine to America is never a good thing.....I'm sure they've discovered bats as well...carriers of terrible diseases. Next they'll be selling it roadside!

Woman:
Well there’s rat cake ... rat sorbet... rat pudding... or strawberry tart.

Man:
Strawberry tart?!

Woman:
Well it’s got some rat in it.

Man:
How much?

Woman:
Three, rather a lot really.

Man:
... well, I’ll have a slice without so much rat in it.

When you’re from a rat-hole country you bring your family members along for the ride. Whether they be dead or alive.

President Trump close the damn border.

My first guess was Africa. “Bush meat” of all kinds is still the main source of protein for many west Africans

I know many Chinese, and the prevalence of Chinese eating rat is probably about the same as the number of Americans who still eat squirrel

The joys of “diversity.”

I have known people from foreign countries who are astounded at the bounty of an average American grocery store, and yet we still get people trying to bring in stuff like this. I guess it’s kind of their comfort food. You know, sometimes you just get a hankering for some dish that’s “just like Mom used to make.”
