Thanks to an awkward seating arrangement at the summit in Osaka, Japan, the Canadian prime minister found himself wedged between the Chinese president Xi Jinping and the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, two politicians whose policies he otherwise opposes.
If that wasn't bad enough, Trudeau tried his best to ignore the fact he was sitting beside Xi, with tensions between their two respective nations on rocky ground right now.
On the other side of Trudeau was Bolsonaro, who the Canadian did try to interact with only for the controversial right-wing Brazilian to completely blank his attempts at a handshake.
This completely backfired for the 47-year-old as Bolsonaro not only looks at him right in the face but then turns around and dismisses his offer of a handshake, leaving Trudeau looking completely bemused.
The moment has since been shared widely on Twitter and we have to say that it really isn't the best look for Trudeau.
Needless to say, people found it pretty funny that Trudeau had no friends at the event, which is just cruel when you think about it.

This sounds like the meeting will be repeat of the 2017 ASEAN summit in Manila, where President Trump came off as a winner, and “pretty boy” Trudeau was a big loser, for bad-mouthing the leaders of the Philippines and Myanmar.
Twice he has tried to move in on China when they were at an impasse w/Trump and twice he has been rebuffed. The guy just can’t get no respect.
He may have been afraid that a firm handshake would dislodge an eyebrow or something....
Trudeau is the kind of leader the lefties in this country want. A weak, ineffectual head of state who wants to be loved by the rest of the world is what this country doesn’t need. Trump may be too “in your face” and brash for some people,but he sticks his nose out for America every time out, and doesn’t take s**t from the domestic and international enemies of this country. Give me that as an American president every time.

Starting to like this Bolsonaro dude. I hear he’s big on gun rights. Flummoxing the boy-PM Trudeau is a plus.

A sidenote, though: it could be that the guy that “snubs” him is merely interpreting trudeau’s gesture as a segway to shake the hands of his neighbor’s other neighbor.

In the video, Bolsonaro turned away from Trudeau to shake hands with the person sitting on the other side of him from Trudeau. Does anyone know who that was?
