They pay google for search results? Where does the money come from?

I thought Apple was using all 3 cloud services.

For e-mail, what about ProtonMail?

The thing I don’t like about Brave is, whenever you hit extensions, themes or any apps to modify it, it sends you to the G/Chrome store.

So no mods like “ quick search bar placed after the address bar on my browser window” sort of thing. Plus I can’t figure out how to wipe cookies off of it via cleaners. So, yes, mostly still using Firefox.

Ultimately, all your data on Apple's platforms are in GCS. If it makes you feel better, you can try to avoid Google, but you won't actually be avoiding them.

I have read recently that DuckDuckGo has become liberal and donates to extreme liberal organizations :(

Another step is to stop using ‘google’ as a verb and just use the good old-fashioned ‘search’.

I never utter that word. If I must speak of it directly (shudder) I use the term “Gargoyle”.

As in “Gargoyle is Evil”

Oddly enough if you Google any of those things you will get many many options.

It’s not that there isn’t an alternative, it’s that they’ve captured the mind space. Like when we used to Xerox things no matter who made the copier. Of course that also shows that these conditions are temporary. Xerox fell. Google will at some point.

Opera, Brave or Firefox will easily replace Chrome.

Outlook will replace gmail.

DuckDuckGo is actually now better (they don’t push leftist propaganda to the top) than GOOGLE for everything except reverse image searches.

Google maps is the one product I haven’t found a good alternative yet for.

I keep Google on Chrome, and DuckDuckGo on my main Mozilla browser. DuckDuckGo doesn’t honor searching for phrases as well as Google does. You can type quotes around, for instance, “Mary Magdalene” and DDG is likely to pull up hits for “Mary” alone, which dooms the search because there are zillions of Marys.

I don’t think, and I surely hope, that startpage.com DOES NOT pay Google!

I know of no way to find out, either.

FReepers?

Does Google have a total lock on internet searches?

Do other search engines just pay Google?

If that is, indeed, the case, something MUST be done to disestablish Google!

Is google the most evil company on the planet. The stuff I hear about them sounds like it comes right outta communist China or North Korea. Well make google the third most evil entity on the planet. Will never, to my knowledge, buy or use a product from IT! And I meant IT!

I avoid ALL of that by using a Samsung flip phone that is not on the Web. I use it to make and receive phone calls and take pictures! I do not text either!

I am not sure whether it has GPS tracking, and I don’t know how to find out.

I am a computer junkie, and if I had the FReaking internet with me 24/7, I’d be the guy you read about getting run over in a crosswalk or running into a light pole or falling into a manhole!

If I wanted to do any of that, I hope I’d be looking at a pretty woman’s backside instead of using a damn phone!

I don’t even take my phone into restaurants, except under very special conditions! And, I don’t much appreciate people using the damn things while I am dining with them, either!

These so-called “smart phones” are, IMHO, crabgrass in the lawn of life!

They have their place, no question about it, but 24/7? I THINK NOT!

Brighteon does not allow you to subscribe to individual channels. I use Bitchute.

If true, that's a shame. Would you have a link?

DuckDuckGo.com/donations

I’d be interested in your opinion of these donations if you have the time.

I am not aware of startmail.com.

Will check it out - I have used Earthlink for almost twenty years, and need a new email address - get too damn many emails!

I’ll also check out Reagan.com. Supposed to be pretty good, and very secure.

Like I asked in #77, do you have a link to your assertions in #66?
