After watching project veritas video I compared search results to duckduckgo.....almost exactly the same....men can...women can...and American Inventors....
I think you will like it. Has served Mrs. Taxman and I faithfully and well ever since I discovered that Google was anti-American and quit using it many years ago!

I’ve just discovered https://yippy.com — pretty cool search engine, the way the left column helps refine searches.
They also have a private email service (startmail.com), it will cost ~60/yr but is worth it to not have your data mined by google.

DDG still favors “major news sites”, so there is some bias, but it is not intentional, but more incidental.
ixquick.eu is another excellent choice Perhaps better, in that it has a proxy to view a given site.
I also use Brave (a decidedly un-PC browser) and have it set to clear history and cookies upon each exit. I just get good at typing in my passwords, which are not saved anywhere.

Yeah, they are pretty ingrained. I never use ‘internet explorer’ but every morning when I power up and run my computer clean up programs there is always a little something on IE. I failed to turn off my ‘location services’ on my phone once and at the end of the month goggle sent me a summary of my travels with a map. I shut off the location service pronto. Not that the phone can’t be pinged from towers. Then again, it is mostly in the off position anyway. Make a call, take a call. Power down.
