“This country really does need to have an amicable division.”

It’s a good idea. The geography would make it difficult to settle the logistics.

Bump! I’ve been thinking about the testimony that will be given during the proceedings. That post exactly summarizes my thoughts. Thanks!

That post precisely explains why the Rats won’t try to impeach President Trump.

It will just harden the resolve of his supporters and remind everyone that the country is in the midst of a civil war.

If they were smart, they would try to lull Trump's supporters into a state of overconfidence and contentment.

There will be no impeachment. There will be no Articles of Impeachment voted out of the Judiciary Committee without them being shown to be a total joke in front of the American People. The Republicans on the Committee starting with Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz will savage any witness arguing for impeachment and will totally eviscerate any house-of-cards charges that Nadler tries to conjure up.

But even in the unlikely event that by some miracle Articles are voted out of Committee, they have to have 218 yes votes on the House floor in order to impeach the President. They have around 50 or 60 at best. Pelosi doesn't dare hold a floor vote with that few yes votes. The loss would be so miserably embarrassing that it might just cost her the Speakership.

I think this has become an albatross around their neck - there’s more ways to lose than there are to win. If they were going to impeach they’d need to have already done so in the House. The Senate will take much longer - too long to impact 2020 and when the people reelect PDJT then it’s all over. It’d also require R’s to have access to ALL of the Mueller investigation documents, warrants, reports, etc., which is the last thing they want. It would open Pandora’s box. This is what Pelosi knows and why she’s dragging her feet on it, throwing out a bone every so often.

IMHO the game right now is to figure out how to retain the black vote - e.g. reparations - which will be attractive to some, the question is how many they’ve already lost that will never come back. Also, shutting down their opponents message, this is what all the social media de-platforming is all about. Then they’ll require voter fraud to win the popular vote, so all of these liberal State’s will give their electoral votes to the D. They’re terrified.

They can’t win on message. When your required permanent underclass isn’t doing so badly and sees positive change undelivered by them then they have to manufacture issues. This whole reparations thing has come out of nowhere.

What is really going to cause a collective nuclear head explosion is when PDJT also gets the popular vote and every single electoral college vote goes to him!! I’m dreaming of 100% going to PDJT!! It would be glorious - I really don’t think the left has thought this through at all....but when you’re plans are saturated with pure hatred then logical thought is tough to come by.

These people are just petulant children and they’re being played with by an adult....although that also means they’ll be very nasty and not play nice.

".... DJT keeps rubbing their noses in it on Twitter...."

Trump taunts them like a school yard bully to impeach him. Because he knows that if the democRATS try to impeach him, that he is even more certain to win in 2020.

The RATS and the media take the bait every single time.

It's amazing to watch.

Nah. They will bloviate, whine, bellyache, complain, accuse; but they know there is nothing there. If they try it, Trump is guaranteed to win the election, 100%. The public won’t allow this farce to go that far.

They would only do it with a green light from Republicans. Else the Republicans could do the same thing against the next Democrat. Both parties are corrupt and have led us to this point in time.

Bad enough they suffer TDS - we don’t need to suffer DDS (Dem Derangement Syndrome) to make up for their ‘issues’...

What?

Last time I saw James Clyburn, House Majority Whip, discuss impeachment a few weeks ago, he very clearly said there is not a majority in the Dem House caucus that would vote to impeach Trump.

Clinton was impeached during his first term and he easily won re-election before he was impeached in 1998. [Sigh].

They will impeach so that they can call Trump “the impeached president”. They will get 52 or 53 votes in the Senate so that they can claim that a majority of the senate wants him removed.
With all due respect to the bitterness of Mitt Romney, after the Senate Republican caucus - i.e., the majority - gets finished with Comey and his co-conspirators, including Robert Mueller, I wonder if even Mitt would do it.

Especially if President Obama is forced to account for what he knew, when, about spying on the political opponent of his party’s nominee for POTUS. Considering how bad that would look, I think the Democrats blink and don’t vote to impeach.

...but to see the answers during the spectacle of an impeachment trial in the senate would be something even CNN could not ignore or spin.

Don't bet on it! Why do you think the media gets away with defamation of politicians in general? The First Amendment protects freedom of speech and of the press, any action based on the content of statements must satisfy narrowly defined requirements, and politicians, as public figures, must also meet significantly higher burdens of proof than an ordinary person. The op-ed argument is that the content is "opinion" aka spin - and facts be damned.

It seems that when it comes to politicians, media can slander and libel with impunity. I wouldn't expect that to change with a Senate trial that exposes democrat liars, seditionists and traitors.

The only thing that will change CNN, MSNBC, Google, YouTube etc., etc. is: conservative, pro-American ownership - or new law that makes the media more accountable for its slander and libel of politicians - or SC decision that makes the media more accountable for its slander and libel of politicians.
