At the start of the Women's World Cup, Team USA's third match––against Sweden––was marked as a key game in the group stage of the tournament.
While the U.S. entered the tournament as the reigning champions and the most-successful nation in Women's World Cup history, the pain of an early exit in the 2016 Olympics still lingered in the air. Back in Rio, it was Sweden that ended the USWNT's fight for the gold, keeping the U.S. off the podium for the first time in history.
Both Sweden and the U.S. enter the final match of the group stage with six points, after they each defeated Thailand and Chile. While both teams have already secured spots in the knockout round, in order for the U.S. to top the group it needs a win over Sweden on Thursday.

It’s not only soccer but women’s (allegedly) soccer - the lowest of the low.
World Cup 2019 France has record number of viewers.
Soccer has 3.5 billion fans around the world making it the #1 sport.
The coach is also an idiot.
If the USA team gets beat, I hope the winning team celebrates in the most obnoxious way possible....
because the USA team so richly deserves it.
Jeez B_F - you try and do good by posting some World Cup info and you get subject to all this blowback / radiation. Yes its a shame there is a few radical US hating players on the US team but I still hope they play well and put on a good show.

"The flag was presented to us by four WWII veterans from the cemetery in Normandy in France back in January. We wanted something special to carry with us on this journey and we were fortunate to meet these four incredible veterans," Dell says. It's very near to our hearts and means a lot to us."
