I destroyed my Dell after 2 years of maddening frustration with it’s crappy touchpad. It was the type that had the mouse buttons hidden underneath. They were so unresponsive that I would have to repeatedly tap to get them to work.
Eventually I started pounding the touchpad to the point I balled up my fist and beat the sh*t out of it.
Now I have an HP with discrete mouse buttons. Couldn’t be happier.
Apple touch pads are the bomb.
My Dell touchpad drives me nuts. In addition to the problem you report, the pad is offset from the centerline. While watching the screen, my thumb invariably goes to the wrong side of the touchpad. I also have problems with the touch screen. Static electricity builds up when using the touchpad or mouse and the cursor becomes uncontrolable. Switching back to touchscreen mode fixes it for a short period, but this machine is useless for serious work.
Looking for a replacement and this one will go in the corner for some routine task.
#2 Dell touchpads never work right.
I noticed other brands with working left/right controls on the touchpad working as they should.
Should I upgrade my Dell from Windows 7?
I hate touch pads. I use a Lenovo and love the red stick mouse/pointer or “nipple” at the center of the keyboard.
I wish someone would invent a tiny version of that that plugs into the USB on the right side of the keyboard and nearly flush with it. It would be like a “pinky joy stick” (no jokes please).
Try a Wireless Mouse. It brings a LT to a whole new World of functionality !
