We sold our 'base' long ago when the government offered to buy it. Saw the handwriting on the wall, you might say and got out of the tobacco business altogether. Even out barns that once held dark fired and burley are falling down. Never will see another tobacco harvest on this farm. More likely an "asphalt and concrete" harvest.
