Also entering another Solar Grand Minimum now, lasts about 50 years. Last one was in medieval times, called a mini ice age.
In a couple decades, Millenials will be wishing for global warming. Ironic, aint it?
My theory is an internal heat build up from tidal and perhaps radioactive decay within the earth’s interior causes or at least contributes to the cycle. Internal heating eventually finds its way to the exterior, slowly at first (warming periods), then finally with dramatic violence, throwing the Earth back into another ice age. This comes about mainly from increased atmospheric SO2 from volcanoes, which reflects sunlight, and from increased atmospheric moisture from underwater volcanoes warming oceans which causes an increase in frozen precipitation, also reflecting sunlight. I think these final events may be extremely violent, affecting the entire earth. We’re experiencing a major increase in earthquake and volcanic activity and they’re not real sure why it coincides with a decrease in solar activity - as you’re probably already aware.
If not sooner.
The whole global warming thing was about using bad science in a scheme to sell carbon credits to make wealthy people even wealthier, and give more control to government - and they've been partially successful in doing so.
Yeah I think it has to do with something we are just learning about. Space pressure and magnetic flux pressure. Yes, space is mostly a vacuum, but near a sun there is solar wind, magnetic flux and upper atmosphere heating. When those are low, solar minimums, there is less pressure from these factors. So less pressure on the planets land surface. That allows magma to more easily flow upward against gravity. There is also a drag component too. So yeah, volcanic activity may increase on land entering the glacial. There is evidence for that gelogically.
But if you think volcanic activity eventually also helps end the glacial, we should also see records of that in the geological record.
It would seem to me that increased geothermal warming would start first in the oceans. And I believe you’re right in assuming there should be some sort of geological indicator. One indicator might be CO2 levels recorded in ice layers, as warming oceans release more CO2, but there could be other factors influencing CO2 levels, such as reduced CO2 uptake from a reduction in plant activity during a glacial period, and etc. I do recall reading about noticeable changes in CO2 levels around these climatic changes, but I don’t remember if these were prior or post events. We do indeed have much to learn about our planet.
CO2 is a laggard indicator due to the oceans holding most of it. The warming trend cannot be caused by CO2. Just not dense enough. It is all controlled by water vapor and water. Heating and cooling. Without significant water we would be like MARS swinging wildly in temperature each day. But think your point is CO2 would indicate ocean warming due to volcanic releases. You really cannot say that unless you know there are more volcanic hot spots under the ocean then on land. Volcanic activity on land cools. In the ocean it warms. Now there are probably more volcanoes under the ocean due to its larger size. And cooling the atmosphere, land volcanic activity, is short term cooling. Heating the oceans is mid term warming. So theoritically it could be possible.
the problems heap more pain on a farm sector that has suffered from years of low crop prices
Riiiight, because nothing hurts prices like a crop shortage.
