Domination.

There was no other way to describe the U.S. defeating Thailand on Tuesday night to kick off their Women’s World Cup title defense. The Americans poured on the goals and defeated Thailand 13-0 – the biggest blowout in the tournament’s history.

Alex Morgan delivered five goals in the match, which was tied for the most in Women’s World Cup history with fellow American Michelle Akers who did it in 1999 against Chinese Taipei.

I notice the He-Man Women Haters Club don’t ever make a comment against the action of the video clips I post (slow, boring, etc).
Truth will always win.

Give it a rest. There is one malcontent and that should not tarnish such a fine group of athletes.
Alex Morgan is a goddess of soccer and a great role model for young women.

Australia 3-2 Brazil: Matildas pull off all-time comeback to revive World Cup campaign

The Matildas have ignited their stuttering World Cup campaign with a stunning comeback 3-2 victory against old foes Brazil.

Trailing 2-0 and with their qualification hopes appearing dead, Caitlin Foord and Chloe Logarzo brought Australia back from the brink before Monica’s own goal gifted the Matildas a priceless win.

It is only the second time a team have come from 2-0 down to win at the Women’s World Cup.

“This was one of the finest Australian performances I’ve seen,” coach Ante Milicic said.

This will be the 250th match in Women’s World Cup history and Japan has been participating from the start, having played in every tournament and reached the final of the last two. But it struggled in an opening draw with lightly regarded Argentina and needs at least a draw here to have a realistic shot at moving on. Scotland, a tournament debutante, played surprisingly well in its first game against the English, losing 2-1. And while European teams have so far dominated this event, Japan may have the antidote: It has won its last five World Cup games against UEFA qualifiers. https://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-world-cup-tv-20190613-story.html

Italy and Jamaica meet on Friday in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in their second game of the tournament as part of Group C. Italy pulled off the biggest upset of the opening days with a 2-1 win over Australia thanks to a 95th-minute goal from Barbara Bonansea, while Jamaica fell 3-0 to mighty Brazil. Italy has the chance to move on with a victory, while a draw will probably still be enough to get them through as a third-place team at worst. Jamaica needs something from this game or will likely find itself with net to no chances of moving on ahead of its third game.

Phil Neville does not believe the rivalry which exists between England and Argentina in the men’s game will have any bearing on the Lionesses’ World Cup clash on Friday evening.

“They haven’t got the history and the rivalry on the women’s side that the men have got,” he said. “This is quite new, a game we haven’t played that often. This is a great footballing nation we are playing, a very proud nation.

“We are playing against a team with great history and there are parallels with both, men’s and women’s football. There are similarities in the way they play.
