At the Hanford site, all of the workers were provided with government housing, government maids and handy men.

The maids and handy men were also used to snoop in the worker’s homes to make sure no parts, papers, etc. from the work site made it to their homes.

Trivia: That scene of her (see pic @ post 55) and the hay wagon crossing the bridge was filmed on what became known as the Pegasus Bridge, that was taken by Major John Howard’s glider infantry company that is shown later in the film. The movie filmed Howard’s company’s action on the actual bridge. It was replaced in 1994 and is on display on the east bank of the river.

It was not Sophia Loren on the bicyle but French actress Irina Demick as the character Janine Boitard.
