MacKenzie Bezos has promised to give at least half of her fortune to charity, just months after finalizing her divorce from the world's richest man.
The newly minted billionaire has signed the Giving Pledge, which encourages the world's richest people to dedicate a majority of their wealth to charitable causes, either during their lifetimes or in their wills.
The initiative was launched by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates in 2010 and has so far attracted the support of 204 individuals and families. MacKenzie Bezos became one of the richest people in the world following her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos earlier this year. She ranks 22nd on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Her personal fortune is now worth an estimated $36.6 billion. Her former husband leads the global rankings with a net worth of roughly $114 billion. MacKenzie Bezos said in a letter announcing the move that "I have a disproportionate amount of money to share."

Depends on which “charity”
All the Leftist “charities” are salivating.
Poor girl, how will she survive on nearly $20 billion?
I really doubt that any of this money will go to any real charities. It will all to the commie-leftist-power-grab establishment organizations.
Are the ‘charities’ Liberal politicians?
I remember a talk show host discussing this once. If I understood correctly, the “givers” get enormous tax credits by donating to a “charitable cause” run by a foundation they create. They still retain control of the money because they run the foundations, and I think they can spread those tax credits out for many years.
I think altruism is on the list, but way down it.
When you are in the billions, the number of billions barely matters.
The names mentioned in the Giving Pledge certainly point to those Charitable causes as a money funnel to the Rat party.
Stuff like this used to bother me, but knowing Who is really the Owner and Master, Jesus Christ we don’t have to worry about who’s in control.
There are very, very few charities worth giving to. This “Pledge” is just more proof that money does not confer intelligence on anyone.
It is no wonder why this world is so screwed up, when idiotic people like this are the ones with the money and therefore the influence to get anything done.
Elton John said something similar. He wanted to leave a big chunk of his money to charity. He didnt want his sons riding around in their own jet.
He wants them to earn it.
Although, David Furnish will likely spend quite a bit on his boy toys.
I counter that argument by saying that children of the wealthy face special pressures. Kidnapping risks, etc.
For example, if Michael Jackson’s kids had no money how would they live as regular joe public.
They don’t have his talent.
Are they going to work checkout at Target????
In Bezos case it is an obscene amount of money so there will be plenty left.
But kids of celebrities face their own perils.
I am sure she can pick many. I bet she could rebuild Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and still have a couple billion left over.
Whew. Finally an welcome influx of cash to help keep FReeRepublic up and................. No? NRA? GOA? Judicial watch? Guess not huh
No kidding. And I didn’t see a timeline for her “donations.” Expect an initial, high-profile donation (or two), but most of the money will remain in her accounts, so she can spend the rest of the life enjoying a posh, jet-setting lifestyle.
BTW, I wonder how much her attorneys collected for handling the divorce? Imagine those folks are doing a little victory dance as well....
I would argue that once someone gets to the $500 million plateau the whole concept of money loses any currency.
Pun intended. LOL
All she had to do was sleep with Jeff for a few years now she will be a hero.
Wouldn’t be surprised.
Planned Parenthood is probably on her list along with environmental groups and Democrat candidates.
