I became a Dissenter member to try out their services to comment on articles that normally don’t like comments.
I’ve always considered myself hard right wing conservative Christian, but the comments I got there make me feel like a leftist. I mad a simple point that race and culture are not necessarily the same thing and got slammed for being a liberal. I got arguments claiming we are a white nation and were designed as such, etc.
I now know what they mean about “alt-right”. These people have problems. Fortunately I can ignore the nutcases.
BTW, I think Dissenter’s format (being able to, in a central location, comment on internet content) is the closest site I’ve seen to the Freerepublic model. However, they don’t have the compressed view that FR has. You don’t see a horizontally squished list. It’s a bit clumsy.
I never get malware because I never use the internet. In fact, I don’t use a smart phone or computer. I never touch the internet at all! I never read it, I never post in it. It doesn’t exist for me.

I had a similar experience perusing some other "alternative" social media outlets. I'm not saying everyone I encountered was a closet antisemite, incel, or racist, but it sure did seem like the loudest voices there weren't particularly interested in holding back any anti-Jew, anti-women, or racially charged sentiments. Lots of anger and blaming as well. Overall, not a fun place to be unless that was already your scene. Normal people wouldn't want to be associated with those voices, and a lot of the prominent early adopters were the outcasts from more mainstream sites and apps, and those people then set the mood for those new platforms.

It’s pretty old school. It took me so long to format this message that I had to go back in time a week just to get started. The time machine is one I worked on a lot. It’s based on a John Deere 1010 tractor.

LOL! Yesterday I went to Best Buy for a wireless adaptor for my 2007 desktop. Helpful staffer got me what I needed. Told me that desktop PC’s age better than laptops, BTW.
I said I was old and no techie, but now I’m going home to relax with some 78 rpm records on my Grandpa’s 1947 radio phonograph (which is true; I had it restored and it plays beautiful sound).
But the blank look on that staffer’s face told me only that I am getting old, indeed. Didn’t even know about LP’s and 45’s, nor reel to reel tape decks. Future shock.....
It's okay if we lose our freedom so long as it's "Private" corporations that are costing us everything.
