U.S. NEWS WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange indicted on 17 new charges under Espionage Act
NBC ^ | 23-05-19 | Ken Dilanian and Doha Madani

The Department of Justice announced 17 new charges against Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange on Thursday, including a virtually unprecedented move to charge him with publishing classified material — a move that could pose challenges to First Amendment protections. In a superseding indictment, a grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, has accused Assange of breaking the law by inducing Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning to send him classified documents — and then publishing material that included the names of confidential sources who provided information to American diplomats. The 17 counts were tacked on to a single count accusing Assange of conspiring with Manning to crack a Department of Defense password. Assange, who was taken out of the Equadorian embassy in London in April, is being held in a London jail for jumping bail on a sex charge and awaiting extradition to the United States.

Any thoughts from people smarter than me on this topic?

He was a YUGE help in getting Trump elected, whether it was intended or not.

But breaking defense codes is probably a very bad thing.

A spy for the other side is bad. A spy that exposes our enemy is good. Assange exposed America’s enemy. Good for him.

Wow I guess Hillary Clinton is still clearly in charged.

The Whistle Blower is indicted for exposing Hillary Clinton?

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is walking free, despite all her crimes, high treason and calling for President Trump’s arrest?

Outrageous!

The MSM combined with the State Dept and DOJ have a record of manufacturing crimes to fit their agenda.
Unfortunately, we will probably never know what really happened.

Any thoughts from people smarter than me on this topic?

Here's some random thoughts from somebody I suspect is pretty smart. And from last night.

Under protection. Threat is real. Key to DNC 'source' 'hack' '187'.

I think this means that Assange is 'under protection' and that the derp state threat against him is real. He is the key to the DNC/hack source and the '187' murder of that source, who we know to be Seth Rich.

I believe the indictments are meant both as a means to get him to the USA and also to apply pressure to him to get him to "give up" his source. He does seem reluctant.

His giving up the source, as you know, destroys the entire Mueller/derp state 'house of cards' on the "Russians hacked the DNC" hoax.

Extra hint. Teresa May just resigned as UK Prime Minister.

Will that effect Assange's ability to be extradited?

Hmmmmm.

Did he have to be in custody to be charged?

Also Manning should have been executed for treason, not given a sex change and release from prison.

And if Assange gets senteced to 175 years, will you say you misinterpreted the message?

If he dies before trial, will you say Deep State won?

I don’t think this is 4D chess, I think the plan is to lull as many people as possible in to complacency, and make an example of Assange.

I believe Manning has testified that Assange “tasked him” regarding the material he gathered. If so Assange did commit espionage, no different then a foreign government tasking an agent.

Manning is currently incarcerated He will be accruing fines of $500 a day, then $1000 a day for refusing to testify before the Grand Jury

Assange has the option of revealing his "source" or not. If not, hey will do time, if convicted.

He will be offered a deal. Give up the source and documentation and no charges.

This isn't 4D chess. This is 1D checkers. Simple stuff, really.

If he dies before trial, will you say Deep State won?

If he dies before trial, I will STRONGLY suspect that the derps got him, like they got Seth Rich.

I think the plan is to lull as many people as possible in to complacency...

Feel free to think what you want.

I think otherwise, and there lies hope and a restoration of American and the world.

Tasked? asked? Was Assange paying Manning?

I don't like it at all that revealing truth is now a crime. I didn't like it when Edward Snowden showed us for certain how out of control spying on US citizens had become, and was charged with crimes for that. The argument this morning is that Assange wasn't really a journalist. It's a Brave New World when the gov can decide that someone who does journalism isn't a journalist. Meanwhile, those who leaked confidential information (including inside the WH leakers) aren't charged with crimes.

I'd like MORE stuff released....Benghazi, spying on President Trump's campaign, illegal and controversial global mischief, information about foreign governments who fund "our" Reps and US Senators.

Our nation is supposed to represent freedom of speech and embracing the truth. I doubt we can ever get back to that principle.

“Assange has the option of revealing his “source” or not. If not, hey will do time, if convicted.”

Correct. Assange has ALWAYS said he’d never release WIKILEAKS SOURCES. Well, there’s no more Wikileaks, really. All he needs is a bit of a push and a way to save face.

This gives him both.
