So sorry to read this. Prayers to all of you.
Prayers up for them. Indeed, the embryo was never going to be a baby. The chromosomes were aneuploid, which means 95% or more chance the embryo was going to stop growing by week 13. A very few lucky aneuploid embryos go to birth but they will have severe life difficulties like Down Syndrome. It may provide comfort to the mom that this is the common reason for early miscarriage and the dreams for the baby can go on, btu this wasn’t the baby. This one was never going to be a baby.
I suffered two of these and I decided thereafter to call the first trimester “pregnant to be pregnant.” You do not know if the embryo will make it. The egg quality of each woman is different and some even young women have very few good eggs. Aneuploid almost always comes from the egg and not the sperm, as the latter are made fresh.
They should mourn fully and then try, try again. It’s the best healing. Prayers up for them and you guys. Next time they will have more cautious hearts innthe first trimester. Not even the besting heart is security. Week 13, you can exhale.
