Is this posted because you do NOT want more women engineers? Girls and boys are different, but there is a spectrum. I’m thrilled that my little daughter likes to help her big brother’s robotics team!

I admit to not reading the article but I’m not about lowering standards. For me, it’s about showing little girls they CAN go for things within their ability. Same with boys. I don’t think they should be told, ‘that profession is only for men or women.’ (With the few exceptions like caregivers for disabled should match the gender for bathing etc)

When WWII was raging, women were required in every manufacturing environment. They did very well indeed, and the quality of workmanship was excellent. Once the men came home, they were required to vacate their jobs so that the men could take them. Many were very happy with their jobs and were embittered to have to let those jobs go.

Did you know that Hedy Lamar is the inventor of spread spectrum radio and that she did important research into remotely guided weapons?

Women can do just fine in engineering and manufacturing positions if they are so inclined.

Perks meaning a good paycheck compared to their part time burger job or hair cutting gig, or grocery checker.

Most women will find a guy who wants to do math and science and study quite a lot to get a job like that, to commit a lot of time and effort to get these degrees, and marry him. Far easier than doing it yourself.

I have multiple engineering degrees, did TA work in graduate school. Damn well know what I am talking about.
