I don't know why Weld would boost about being the "most pro-abortion candidate" in a REPUBLICAN primary, unless he suffers from some delusion that a bunch of RATS will crossover and pull a Republican ballot in the primary, despite the fact their own primary will be a huge contest.
He indeed has flat out said he’s targeting independents more than Republicans. Hard sell to get them to waste a vote on Weld rather than influencing the rat primary.

They seem to think if Weld makes a dent in that primary it will hurt Trump. They cite Bush and Buchanan in 1992. But Buchanan doing well was a SYMPTOM of Bush’s unpopularity not the cause of it.
