The world's crankiest cat with a permanent scowl that has inspired countless memes, a best-selling series of books and a movie has passed away, aged seven. Grumpy Cat, owned by Tabatha Bundesen from Morristown, Arizona shot to fame in 2012 in a YouTube video that got 15.7 million views, and earned more than Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz and Matthew McConaughey during her time in the spotlight. Even amassing a reported $100M fortune was not enough to put a smile on the face of the internet sensation – real name Tardar Sauce - who was born with dwarfism and an underbite, giving her a disgruntled expression.

I had one cat die young from a disease. The others, since my childhood, have lived into their late teens. I just put one to rest who was my dear companion for 19 years. I miss them all like family.
When I bought homes, I always bought on a dead end street and away from major roads, just so I could let them outside.

Grumpy Cat has a form of dwarfism and an underbite that yields a perpetual frown.
Grumpy Cat was born with a number of birth defects, hence her strange appearance. She also had difficulty walking, implying that she also had spinal defects.
These spinal defects may have affected her ability to urinate, thus setting her up for the urinary tract infection that killed her. UTI’s kill by a spread of the infection from the urinary tract to the bloodstream, a process called sepsis.
