FULL TITLE: Jeep People Honor School Shooting Victim and Fellow Jeep Fan Kendrick Castillo With 600 Jeep Procession
Last week there was another school shooting in the U.S., this time at a charter school just south of Denver, Colorado called STEM School Highlands Ranch. Kendrick Castillo, whom many are hailing as a hero for his efforts in subduing the gunman, was murdered saving the lives of his fellow students. The Jeep community learned that Castillo was a Jeep fan, so on Wednesday, CBS Denver reports, that community has planned a special procession in Castillos honor.
Take a look at the screenshot above, and youll see a young man standing in front of his beloved XJ. Its a beautiful machine: a Forest Green 97 to 01-style model with Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK wheels, a ~4.5-inch lift kit, some LED headlights, and the spare tire mounted to an aftermarket roof-rack. All in all, its really tasteful and well done.
Between that image and others like it, its clear that Castillo, who lost his life last Tuesday after he pushed the gunman against a wall and ultimately helped stop the perpetrator according to NBCs interview with Castillos friend, was a real Jeep fan. And now, to honor one of their own, the Jeep community in Colorado has organized a Jeep procession.
One of Kendricks passions in life was his Jeep, a CBS host says in the clip above, before another reporter talks with an organizer who received approval for 600 Jeeps to attend Castillos memorial procession.
According to CBSs story, 600 may actually be on the low-end. From the article:
Jeep groups from across the state plan to escort Castillos family to a Highlands Ranch church Wednesday where a memorial service will be held for the teen.
As soon as we heard that Kendrick was a Jeeper, it kind of spread like wildfire throughout the Jeep community, said Catherine Fanaro, founder of Colorado Jeep Girls.
Catherine said she was able to get approval for 600 Jeepers to participate in the procession. So far, more than 800 said they plan to attend.
Its a tragic story, and one that pulls at my heart since I also took pictures with my beloved Jeep Cherokee when I was a teenager. But its also a story about the kindness of the Jeep communitythe almost familial bond between people with a common passion for solid-axle off-road machines. Its something that we learned before after Hurricane Michael, and something that well continue to learn in the future: the car community is strong.
It’s a Jeep Thing.
True.
Both of mine are OOC but they are staying.
OOC?

Out of commission.
One various major mechanical.
The other being reassembled when I can.
Also rode in a coworker's Jeep. Guy I marched Drum Corps with had a Jeep, and I think his mission in life was to find out just how steep an angle he could climb. Fun riding with him.
Meant to add, this is pretty big news in this area.
Had an ‘84 CJ7 Renegade. Lots of fun in all weather. Camping way off the beaten trail when I was not pulling a ski boat during the summer and in the winter, I’d blow off work whenever it snowed and I’d make it up pulling stranded cars out of ditches and up hills at $20 a pop. Would have done it for free but people kept thanking me with $20 bills :-)
I have an 82 Laredo that I look forward to using some day.
I drive a 2014 Grand Cherokee 4x4.
Some days I pass a late 70s Cherokee Chief.
Rather have one of those than my old Blazer.
“...after he pushed the gunman against a wall
An article that I read said that Kendrick did more than that. He charged at the gunman. Kendrick was familiar with guns and would shoot and hunt with his dad.
He was shot once (arm?) and kept charging.
He was shot again (stomach?) and kept charging.
Right as he reached the gunman he was shot in the head.
For once, and may it happen every time in the future for tragedies like this, a genuine hero/martyr, Kendrick Castillo, is better known by name than the piece of excrement that caused this! Could it be due to the LEFTist MSM not liking the actions of his schoolmates because it fails their narratives?
What an amazing young man. Hope he knew how well-loved he is.
Totally brave young man. School needs to name a building after him....I am sure the bleeding hearts will say that act will trigger the other shooting lunatics....how come violent movies and video games don’t trigger the loonies? Suck it up for raw, passionate and self sacrificing bravery and give him his due.
Gotcha.

My Jeep Wrangler JK and I understand. I am in tears.
I am on my third Jeep now.
Thanks Kendrick,
You’d like my ‘05 TJ.
