ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) A tent city is continuing to grow in Midtown Atlanta and one woman is trying to find a permanent solution to the problem.
Several transient people have put up tents along the 17th Street bridge and Northside Avenue in Midtown and it's becoming an eyesore.
Judy Byrd lives in a nearby neighborhood and she's gotten the attention of Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall.
"It's something that I wanted to make the county aware of and also wanted to see if any volunteers would participate in the community and it's just been amazing how much response I've gotten from the people that really want to help," Byrd told CBS46 News.

When I see ignorant or intimidated people handing money out their windows to panhandlers at intersections in Newark NJ, I want to give them a piece of my mind (but wouldn’t unlock my door/roll down my window to do so).
They only beg there because fools make it worthwhile...
Deport a million illegal immigrants and suddenly you have affordable housing.
Just legalize pot. That is the solution. Just check with Colorado. Tax revenue from legal pot sales is booming. Illegal pot was supposed to disappear. NOT! If you buy the illegal stuff you can avoid the tax.
Add Colorado to the list!! Austin Texas is next!
Well said!
Leading with a progressive agenda focused on equity and affordable housing, Mayor Bottoms serves as Chair of the Community Development and Housing Committee for the United States Conference of Mayors. She has also joined mayors across the country in taking a stance for the removal of the citizenship question from the 2020 Census form, support for an Amicus Brief to protect Temporary Protective Status for immigrants, and the end of LGBTQ discrimination.
A product of the Atlanta Public School System, Mayor Bottoms graduated from Frederick Douglass High School ...
If? The growth is well under way. No need to take any special effort to notify city/county officials, local Law Enforcement recorded it the first or second night.
The only issue is whether the growth of tent cities are part of some groups plan or due to fearful politicians, or both. If the former, it doesn't much matter the solution is not complicated; if the latter, the problem is much more difficult.
Even if you do not live in SF, Seattle or ATL, the problem is coming to a city very near to you.
Pot is the worst gamble for revenue; too easy to grow your own (and I don’t mean in a high-tech lab with heat lamps). Years ago I remember a full-sized billboard in a nearby city offering a reward for “growing” marijuana plants; it may lose some potency but is still the cheapest stuff on Earth.
These places are gross in northern cities; what do they smell like under the Atlanta sun?
The only things missing are the satellite dishes.
Next up:
Denver, Colorado.
Add the humidity w 95 degree heat and presto, super stink.
There really needs to be some requirements in order to cast a vote. I mean more than just being alive and a citizen and not having already just voted.
“hose our own” - no pun intended, right? HA
I could imagine; we get some hot & humid days up here in NYC metro area, but there must be far more of them down there...
Like something out of a Steinbeck novel.
The dirty secret is that this is being done quite on purpose. The Activists pushing these laws will never admit it publicly but heres the truth.
They hate civilized society. Those beautiful glass and steel buildings with all the trappings of civilization? They hate them. They want them destroyed. All those middle class folks who drag their asses out of bed at 5am so they can be at work by 8? They hate them, too.
If youre one of them, blue collar, white collar, middle management, Senior VP, whatever, they hate you, too. They hate you with the white hot nuclear intensity of 10,000 burning suns. They hate the society that you help to build and they want it destroyed root and branch.
And while, for now at least, they cant just start killing us theyll make do with destroying the things that make civilized life possible. Theyll flood the productive parts of the cities with drug addled mentally ill people and then pass laws so you cant do a damned thing about it. Not legally, anyway.
Theyll make the areas so inhospitable to us normals that we flee taking our money, work ethic, and businesses with us. Then the spiral will tighten further damaging the things that they hate until the target area is laid waste.
These activists want things fouled with human waste, the parks and common areas unusable by the people who paid for them, and the cops prevented by law from doing anything about it. Once the water is undrinkable, the soil and sidewalks are covered with human feces, and the air stinking of rot, their task will be complete. At least in that area anyway.
Then theyll move on to the next target.
Face it. They hate you. They hate everything you believe in. They dont want compassion for these people. They need them. Theyre a weapon to be used against you.
Once you understand that everything becomes crystal clear.
See my tag line.

Atlanta shortly to follow in the footsteps of other radical Dem run cities each vying to be the one to give away the most free stuff.
Sooner or late one city or another will become a dystopian nightmare were only the “homeless” reside - in their own filth.
5 out of the 10 most dangerous college campuses in America were in Atlanta, and that was before the explosion in homeless people wandering the streets. I wonder how they are now?
The cancer that is destroying formerly healthy cities - is free drugs.
Are yall starting to see why Marietta and Alpharetta and Sandy Springs will not allow MARTA stations to be built in any of those places and why they have blocked any attempts at incorporation into Atlanta?
