I used to be able to uncork a 300 yarder, now and then, with a Taylormade Burner Bubble and a Top Flite ball. I’m 61, have a Callaway XR driver, use Titleist balls, and if I get 250, that’s a good drive.
John Daly leads the Champions Tour with an avg. drive of 295. Rocco Mediate averages 267. Both are under 60.
I’m not saying he’s lying... but sometimes fishing stories do get embellished.
Your keyword there was AVERAGE. Rush said he had the wind behind him. And maybe the fairways were amenable to roll that day. Maybe he caught a cart path. Who knows, but it’s not at all out of the realm of probability.
