Pretty sure they are separate bugs.
Assassin bug bite is incredibly painful. Kissing bug has different bite.

The assassin bug leaves a painful open wound and the kissing bug leaves a hickey.

IIRC from my entomology class (several decades ago) kissing bugs (aka cone nosed blood suckers) are a subset of the family of assassin bugs.
Chagas' disease is spread by the bug (and these are true "bugs") pooping on the bite wound after the bite. If bitten, clean that wound, and disinfect if possible. .
