The problem is society cannot help these people unless they ask OR do harm.

It’s a hard, harsh world but we really do *not* want to give the psycho industry any real power over people. They’re not a well balanced bunch themselves. And there’s fewer groups of people, outside of politics, more prone to abusing whatever power they have.
Which is why one needs to be vigilant and self aware and do what one can to protect themselves from the known population of mentally ill people walking the streets.
