During an interview on E!'s Busy Tonight, Mandy Moore revealed that she and host Busy Phillips are both up for the role of Adelaide in the a movie musical version of Guys and Dolls. However, Moore went on to say that the casting directors of the film are only casting male leads first before considering any female roles.
During the conversation, Moore said, "I just want to get in the room. I'll sing I'll do whatever I have to do and they're like they want to cast the male leads first and then they'll talk about who the ladies are."
"That's Hollywood for you. That's true, that's sort of where we are still so I was like okay I'll just sit tight and wait to see who they cast to be Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson," continued Moore.
Philipps had an angrier response to the producers' decision, saying, "That's such [expletive] [expletive]."
And then Moore asked, "It's 2019. That's still what we're coming up against?"
Phillipps went on to say, "For all of the talk, things are still run by white men, so, until you get them out of the top positions, there's no [expletive] chance for any of the rest of us."
Watch the conversation below.
TriStar Pictures has purchased remake rights to the original Damon Runyon short stories about gamblers and gangsters, the rights to the Broadway musical, and the remake rights to the previous 1955 film adaptation from the Samuel Goldwyn company.
John Goldwyn and Marc Toberoff are set to produce the new adaptation for TriStar with Meyer Gottlieb executive producing. Hannah Minghella and Nicole Brown will oversee the film for TriStar.
The musical has a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows and music by Frank Loesser. The 1955 film version starred Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra, and Vivian Blaine, and was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, who wrote the screenplay.
"Guys and Dolls" premiered on Broadway in 1950, where it ran for three years and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The 1992 revival of the musical was what helped make Nathan Lane into a star of the stage.
It’s harder now than ever to find a male who can sing, rather than alternately talk and scream.
In order to produce entertainment they have to fill the difficult part of the casting first, and then fill in harmonizing voices around that.
Men still chase women. Woman still present themselves in a way that suggests they want to be chased.
The communist scum are trying to put a wrench in the spokes. Patriots tell the communists to GFY do it today
It must just be fashionable to beat up on white CHRISTIAN HETEROSEXUAL males in particular these days.

Say again?!
Regards,
Ha! A lot of luck with that delusion.
They are just waiting until Jessie Smollett is cast as the male lead. Then they will decide who the female lead will be.
Frankly, if I was the director, I would immediately cast Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga as the leads. That’s a good chemistry.
All the men will necessarily need to be ghey. Then they can audition and hire their counterparts who will necessarily need to be transgender men who identify as women.
Sorry busy and Mandy. You won’t even be considered.
Sacrificed by the Lavender Mafia on the alter of Sodom.
Hey, pompous twits....
Ever think the schedule may call for a particular order of casting? It is likely some jerk MBA put together a gantt chart that calls for an order of dependencies to effectively synergize the process.
Really, it is just a movie. In fact, it is just Guys and Dolls!
Sit down, wait for your call and try to behave. It is not as though your chosen career is anything more than taking money to entertain folk.
Really preferred it when show folk kept to their own.

I meant it wasn’t smart to call a potential future employer sexist.
So, they are not changing the name of the musical? I would think that title could trigger a few snowflakes. I mean, “dolls”? Just sayin’
I will laugh my butt off if they do cast a bunch of trans in the show. The lily white Mandy and Busy cannot complain, right? But, more so, if they are POC trans.
She’s so right. I mean who cares that Adilene is a sub role to Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit. Must cast the lower roles first because they draw the crowd...NOT!. I wouldn’t hire her ass because of her attitude and big mouth
#7 Marlon Brando was all wrong for that movie. He can’t sing or dance or act. A triple threat.
Look at the title, for a start ...
